Palihouse, Santa Monica
A charming authenticity is what the Palihouse, Santa Monica delivers in spades – offering the weary traveller a home away from home, with serious style, in the best location in town. Our Founders, Juliette Arent & Sarah-Jane Pyke lapped up every detail of the 1920’s manor boutique hotel during their recent stay…
Impeccably and thoughtfully styled throughout, there are works by local artists and photographers lining the wallpapered walls, and carefully curated vintage furniture and detail, delivering a homely vibe of sophisticated eccentricity.
The mini bar is one of the best-stocked Juliette and Sarah-Jane have seen on their many travels
The hotel dates back to a time when Santa Monica was the last Los Angeles rail stop and travellers from all over the world came for seaside vacations year round which gives it the retro surf lodge feel. The building dates from 1927 and is a beautiful example of Moorish-influenced Mediterranean Revival Architecture.
Located in a quiet residential area, only a few minutes walk from some the beach, the Third Street Promenade, Farmer’s Market and the Santa Monica Pier.

The mini bar is one of the best-stocked Juliette and Sarah-Jane have seen on their many travels – full of surprising and tempting treats. The kitchenette is generous and adds to the traveller-in-residence feel where you can prepare fresh produce from the farmers market nearby at your leisure.
The Palihouse – gives good Santa Monica style and some old Hollywood-meets-Mediterranean glamour too. Charming, authentic and rather addictive.
