svenskt tenn
If you, like us, are obsessed with pattern and colour you will fall in love with Svenskt Tenn as much as we have.
Svenskt Tenn is a Swedish interior design company founded by Estrid Ericson, in 1924. 10 years later Austrian architect & designer Josef Frank began designing for Svenskt Tenn, completing over 160 textile designs. Josef Frank’s vision of humane, soft modernism and Estrid Ericsson’s artistry are the foundations of Svenskt Tenn’s interior design philosophy. Together, the duo created a highly personal style with a combination of Viennese elegance and Swedish functionalism. Brightly coloured patterns went completely against the ideals of the day, as did unabashed borrowing from both high and low cultures and eras. Imagine the outrage!
These are some of our favourites of the 40 patterns being made by hand on silkscreens (from the 1940s!) in Sweden today.
