Delpozo Resort 2017
For Delpozo’s debut resort collection, creative director Josep Font pays homage to the French cinematographer George Méliès. Translating his fantastical silent film ‘A Trip to the Moon’, a dreamy voyage of the sky and sea into a perfect marriage of ethereal escapism and wearable modernity. A contrasting influence for Font in this collection is the British abstract sculptor Anthony Caro – his spare geometry inspiring the organic silhouettes of the range. This successful contradiction of whimsical decoration against sharp outlines is a pairing that the Spanish fashion house, under the direction of Font, is becoming synonymous with.
Celestial and underwater motifs embellish the line of structured architectural pieces including voluminous coats, intarsia knits, and lightweight blouses. The adornment of elaborate embroideries, starburst prints, and flower sequin applique are jolted to life via a vivid summer palette of Yves Klein blue, sea green and canary yellow. The daywear pieces in crisp cotton poplin, linen, and raffia jacquard contrast beautifully with the delicate pale hues and finishes of the eveningwear.
Clean, structured shapes paired with otherworldly embellishment against a palette of bold and subtle hues… Josep Font produces yet another dreamy collection that reflects both his architectural training and couture savoir-faire.
