The Robertson Small Hotel, South Africa
Come join us as we wanderlust our way to The Robertson Small Hotel, just two hours from Cape Town, South Africa.
Quietly formal yet embracing the comforts of a five star boutique hotel and the wit and the whimsy of a weekend escapade, The Roberston Small is the result of the curated hand of designer Sophie Ashby of London-based Studio Ashby. Hailing herself from South Africa’s wine country, Ashby has designed each of the 10 rooms of the hotel with their own character, specific to the colours, textures and warmth of its locality.
With artworks on rotation courtesy of an ongoing pop-up exhibition curated by SMITH Studio, custom lighting, vintage and iconic furniture and upholstery throughout the public and private spaces of the hotel, there is a familiar homeliness to the perception of luxury at The Small.
Welcoming guests with its restaurant (the work of Sophie’s sister Rose Ashby of the esteemed Spring Restaurant at Somerset House in London) and EM bar, signature playlist and it’s own scent The Small beautifully orchestrates a holistic vision of all that we could imagine of a perfectly realised home. With its elegance, history and eclecticism The Roberston Small Hotel invites those that visit to sew their own tales into it’s enduring splendour.
