Life of ZOJA
Serbian/South-African Zoja Mihic is the creative force behind revered jewellery label, ZOJA.
Mihic’s jewellery collections are inspired by the intricate details of her memories and the people and places she encounters. Her jewellery references her life narrative and the wonder of travel, with its never-ending discoveries and curiosities.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Mihic completed her MBA in International Luxury Brand Management in Paris. Between her workshop in India and her current home in New York, Mihic is a seasoned traveller. Her cosmopolitan lifestyle and global presence feed into her work, with the diversity of cultures, materials, languages, and traditions all serving as inspiration for the designer.
Mihic experiments with hand-worked metals and gemstones such as Amethyst, Turquoise, Citrine, Laboradite, Opal and Peridot. Using gold plates and sterling silver refined in her signature brush finish, she creates contemporary jewellery with a timeless appeal.
Mihic’s pieces exude an elegant femininity and her designs are as bold as they are elusive. From cascading earrings which dust the shoulders to circular shapes and designs which taper around the body to create movement – Mihic’s collections are both sculptural and playful.
The collection is made up of beautiful contrasts. Colours, textures, and materials are juxtaposed and chunky geometric shapes are balanced with delicate chains and fittings to appear lightweight and fluid. Mihic bridges the gap between costume jewellery and fine jewellery, creating a style that doesn’t intimidate and that can be worn every day.
Describing her own brand as inquisitive, sensuous and worldly, Zoja Mihic has produced covetable collections of original, adventurous and contemporary jewellery.
