Progetto Domestico – Vincenzo De Cotiis
‘Progetto Domestico’, Vincenzo De Cotiis’s artistic studio, translates as Project Home, a humble but fitting name for objects that fulfill the notion of furniture but allure to enlightenment. Experimental, De Cotiis understands the beauty of complexity through materiality, whether recycled fiberglass or polished brass all of De Cotiis’s pieces are caressed into life by this pure visionary.
Instinctive shapes, crystalized formations … they are brutalist by nature whilst being completely elegant in materiality.
Vincenzo De Cotiis exploration of form and materiality through his furniture, ‘Progetto Domestico’, is audaciously assured. Instinctive shapes, crystalized formations… they are brutalist by nature whilst being completely elegant in materiality.
Monumentally tranquil, silky brass cusps the surface of its calacatta viola base in ‘DC1615’. ‘DC1524’ industrial paneling of recycled aluminum slats are completely transformed when combined with silver plated brass, creating divine beauty from the commonplace. ‘DC1604’ sofa in hand dyed velvet blushes with love, floating on a silver plated brass base, it is minute contemplation that created this true artist expression. Experimental, De Cotiis obviously enjoys the tactility of life, choosing rough or raw, mottled and distressed, and although there is a lack of timber in his collection there is an overriding essence of warmth throughout.
De Cotiis interiors are beguiling in their opulent purity; his furniture, lighting, and objet d’art are condensed expressions of his style made for the contemporary palazzo.
