Bit Part hardware – design detail to love
A collaboration between architect Hannah Tribe and metal craftsmen Adam Corry, BIT PART launches sustainable and beautiful hardware – delivering design detail to complete the engagement journey at home.
In the BIT PART partnership, Hanah Tribe, award-winning Sydney architect, and Adam Corry, expert metal craftsman value quality and longevity while learning from one another the importance of aesthetics and practicality.
“Touching is how you engage with architecture after looking at it. We engage with architecture visually first, then comes touch. We want BIT PART hardware to feel cool and heavy, to register human touch and get better with age,” says Hannah.
Concentrating on pure materials – marble, brass, bronze and stainless steel – these bits and parts have minimal moving parts, are weighty and durable with a sense of timelessness, of permanence.
“Back in the day, doorknobs were solid and timeless and they lasted. BIT PART is like these old pieces, but it fits better. And it looks better,” says Adam. Adds Hannah, “I believe we need to demand the resolved aesthetics and quality that we had before. We must stop building disposable stuff.”
The collection is largely made from solid marble and brass, and there are also some fun details – painted back plates in pink, blue and red, alongside the monochromes and metals, providing ample opportunity for creative decoration.
BIT PART launches first with a collection of hooks that are as beautiful as they are useful, and offer an injection of satisfying whimsy to the mundane. The detail, although small in size, makes a big impact on daily life at home. Delivering joy in the everyday moments of life – school bags lifted from the hallway onto hooks, hooked brass in ensuites providing the luxe feel of a hotel stay, and fun to be had with superhero costumes and fairy wings on display via colourful hooks in little bedrooms.
Designed and made locally, there is an obvious and appealing pride and passion at the heart of BIT PART. As well as providing function and longevity, each piece in the BIT PART collection is a singular object of beauty.
