The Visit: A Design Apartment by Studiopepe
A mosaic of mirror, marble, patterns and textures blend together to create a visual feast. This colourful haven is The Visit – an apartment located in the heart of Brera, Milan. Designed by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto of creative agency Studiopepe, the project was launched at Fuorisalone in Milan Design Week 2017 with the intention of sharing a different kind of experience, one that is “a rite, a gesture, that of visiting the intimate dimension of the apartment”.
The Visit challenges traditional assumptions about hotels and the setting here is intimate, carefully designed so that its guests feel at home rather than abroad. Studiopepe explores the rituals we undertake when visiting a space and they have successfully created a private sanctuary in the heart of a bustling, cosmopolitan city. “We believe that a home is the physical transposition of our inner world. A place where beauty envelops us and accompanies us throughout everyday life.” – Studiopepe
The design is notable for its use of contrasting identities and elements. Mondrian-inspired geometric wall patterns act as a backdrop to the remarkable selection of furniture. Herringbone parquet floors covered with patterned rugs run through the apartment and velvet curtains separate the space to create cosy and intimate rooms.
The apartment pays tribute to some of the best Italian and European design: Gio Ponti armchairs upholstered in pink velvet, Mangiarotti marble tables, Balise pendants by Atelier de Troupe, VV Cinquanta suspension lights by Vittoriano Viganò and Jean Prouvé chairs embellish the apartment, all uniting to create a striking display. Studiopepe has created a space where all of these strong design pieces coexist harmoniously and the result has powerful emotional and aesthetic impact.
The Visit evokes a feeling of a home-away-from-home, whilst showcasing some of the best Italian design. A visit to The Visit is at the top of our list for our next European tour.
