London’s Henrietta Hotel
Henrietta Hotel is the latest addition to the French collective behind the Experimental Group who are also responsible for some of Europe’s most amazing hotels – Grand Pigalle and The Grand Boulevard Paris… not to mention their countless bars and restaurants spotted around the world.
The creative direction and design of the hotel has been undertaken by the multi-talented interior designer Dorethée Meilichzon of CHZON (also behind the amazing Hotel Panache and Hotel Bachaumont). Meilichzon took inspiration from the streetscape to create the concept for the hotel – the bold profiles of the windows and the roof tops themselves influenced the smallest of details, from the signage to the bathroom basin, Meilichzon doesn’t miss a beat.
Mixing warm and cool tones gives each room just enough nonchalance and retro cool. The custom-made armchairs (inspired by Pierre Paulin designs) with high sheen aluminium and brushed brass lamps effortlessly assembled into the carrara marble bedside tables. Known for her ability to mix even the boldest of styles, Meilichzon designed each of the eighteen bedrooms to have their own characteristics, making every stay unique. The bedheads are a mixture of mirror, fabric panels and custom painted patterns. All assembled by hand and are a modern, minimal take on the sculptural forms of a bas relief.
Although this is the first hotel in London for both The Experimental Group and Meilichzon the Henrietta Hotel is bound to be a success drawing in those curious of seeing the finer details in person.
