Who says there’s no place for craft in design? Not Naomi Paul.
Launched in 2011 Naomi’s debut lighting solutions, the Omi Pendant Collection, evolved from the desire to create flat pack lighting that is timeless, playful and quietly opulent designed sourced and made in the UK. The shades can be used in any interior setting to create a soft atmospheric ambience and also a sculptural focal point to the space, whether lit or not. Strong bold shapes contrasted with the use of soft tactile materials such as mercerized (waxed) cotton sourced from industry surplus are a hallmark of her ‘sustainability is key’ approach to design.
What is intriguing though is the simple yet skilfully handcrafted shades using traditional crochet techniques – each piece holds its own unique narrative.
