Marni Fall 2016
Authoritative, and engaging glamour, Consuelo Castiglioni’s RTW Fall 2016 for Marni is a powerful force. There is an essence of the 80’s power dressing without the shoulder pads. Instead clothes are sculptured and structured around lithe bodies, not triangular, but boxed and puffed commanding their presence whilst maintaining femininity.
Cutaway capes and pencil skirts are complimented with stirrup pants and muffler fur stoles. Patterns and colours collide in monochromatic florals, harlequin diamonds in signature Marni colours of plum, golden yellow, jungle green and stormy blue. Flashes of siren red and brilliant blue are all great companions for camel and chocolate brown in tactile felt, fur and suede. Ruched fabric is wide belted in thick wool, puffed sleeves billow from the elbow to the wrist or bloom from coat sleeves, while tube sleeves envelope slim hands elongating the arms. Boxed mini dresses are bejeweled with beaded brocade and cellophane like discs. Oversized decorative earrings frame petite faces, adding to the impressive dominance of this textile fascination and skew on scale.
If you were to have only one fashion house in your wardrobe it would have to be Marni, as she would push the rest out!
