Sydney Contemporary 2018
Heralding the start of spring, Sydney Contemporary Art Fair returns to Carriageworks this year between the 13th – 16th of September.
The scale of this year’s fair is substantial, with over 80 galleries from around the world showcasing the work of 300 leading and emerging artists from more than 30 countries (including Australia, Argentina, China, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, the UK and the USA).
The Fair prides itself on being a celebration of diversity in the art world. With works from young, emerging artists as well as the established, Sydney Contemporary offers carefully curated exhibitions that challenge, educate and inspire anyone who is interested in art.
A highlight of the 2018 fair is Video Contemporary, a program of selected moving image works curated by Kelly Gellatly, the Director of Ian Potter Museum of Art. There is also a heavy focus this year on performance art, alongside art walks and tours offering exclusive viewings of selected art owners’ private collections.
As always, the Fair’s program includes installation and panel discussions, with art-inspired activations and events set to take place all across the city. Kid Contemporary will provide a dynamic space for kids to engage with, in the past it has been hosted by leading artists such as Uji Handoko Eko Saputro and Hiromi Tango.
Evening visitors can be expected to be catered to with food and drink by some of Sydney’s favourite eateries who will be stationed around Carriageworks.
