Sea Lake by Brooke Holm
Revealing her new series at Denfair 2018, we were once again in awe of the work of Australian/American photographer, Brooke Holm. Titled ‘Sea Lake’, the series depicts the abstract swirls of texture and colour within Victoria’s largest salt lake, Lake Tyrrell.
Holm’s art aims to explore the bond between humans and the natural environment by documenting an immense depth of emotion, focus with a unique approach to each assignment. With a portfolio of landscape images from across the globe in aerial photography, Sea Lake captures the visually stimulating connection of human habitation and nature with evidence documented as the oldest amongst Victoria and Tasmania.
Sea Lake paints a vivid canvas of colours from the natural environment of Australia in musky salt pinks to deep ochre yellows, exhibiting a contemporary appreciation of the historically profound site. Brooke’s love for nature and her inquisitive mind for form inspires her art practice and continues to drive her fascinating studies.
Brooke acknowledges the traditional custodians, the Boorong clan of Lake Tyrell and its surrounds, and pays her respects to the Elders past and present in embarking on this photographic journal of the land.
Sea Lake is now available to purchase online and in store at Modern Times.
