In/Out - VOGUE LIVING: MARCH 2013

Last year, amidst the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, Arent&Pyke completed our first foray into designing in New York City – which was a huge thrill and privilege for us. This same project has now been featured in Vogue Living’s current issue (March 2013) – which is about as good as it gets! We are just so super proud.

The brief for this West Village pied-a-terre was from an international client, for whom we had previously delivered a project in Sydney. They are an Australian family – and wanted to maintain the Australian aesthetic and lifestyle when in New York. While being a 2-bedroom home with a rare courtyard garden in the stylish heart of Manhattan, the indoor space was intimate, so every element was specific and considered.

Relationships between style and function had to be clear for the space to work. The scheme is soft and relaxed with punctuations of colour, texture and pattern. Nothing is over-decorated, and accessories are kept simple and elegant but not stuffy.

The end result – an urban oasis for the client that revels staying in the most exciting part of the city but one who desires their personal space to be calm, comfortable and stylish. We hope you like it!

I am a particular fan of your delicious use of colour. Seriously, the Utrecht armchairs and Zap rug go so beautifully together, I could eat them! Looking forward to the next Vogue Living instalment.

  5. LOL Marcus – you have just helped to figure out what I felt when looking at those – hunger :)
