It is not everyday you get a call to fully furnish, accessorise and style a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in 2 weeks however, this is the very call we received from Belle Magazine little more than 2 weeks ago. Of course, we jumped at the chance. Arent&Pyke are proud to introduce the third and final installment in the Mirvac Belle Life Series, a collaboration between Belle Magazine & Mirvac at Harold Park in Glebe.

The brief, to design an apartment for a young family, was a great fit for us. We have always loved working with families to create homes that are unique, warm, inviting, and personal. Our own childhood bedrooms hold fond memories of exploration and we hope to inspire young imaginations with the rooms we create. This was a unique opportunity to showcase some of the ideas we believe are central to designing for families. Finding a balance between style and practicality, without compromising comfort or the individual needs of family members.

One of the key design elements in the apartment is the use of wallpapers, defining the bedrooms and setting the tone for each space. Designing for imaginary clients, we were feeling brave, and layered up the palettes with plenty of colour and texture. Despite the use of bold pattern, the bedrooms maintain a sense of calm that comes from the cohesive schemes.

The apartment was officially launched on Wednesday at an event with a nostalgic twist complete with popcorn, giant Jenga and a balloon artist. It was a real thrill to see how it was received, and interact with guests in the space. The children’s room was definitely a crowd favourite, and the large artworks by Ildico Kovacs and Julian Meagher were also showstoppers.

This venture would not have been possible without the generous support of our suppliers & collaborators. We are especially grateful to Artbank Australia for the incredible contribution of artwork which makes the apartment sing the song we hoped it would, as well as Porters Paints for the wallpaper in the master bedroom and Quercus & Co for the children’s bedroom paper. A full list of all the wonderful suppliers is below.

The apartment will be open for a few more weeks so please feel free to drop in and have a look for yourself.

Whose painting is this on the first photo?? Thank you so much.

  2. apeditor21 says:

Hello there Anne and thank you for your comment. The painting is by Ildiko Kovacs.

    • Anne says:

Thank you so much!!! I love this painting… So bright and colorful… And with the furniture, lamps and flowers in front, it’s just perfect… I would love having a dining room like that… Maybe I can convince my husband… 😉

  3. Elena says:

I rarely comment on blogs, but I love your design of this home (I will have to look more and see your other work). The dinning room is amazing, the chairs, pendent lights and the painting- I want them all in my home. I also love the buffet and the splash of almost playfulness (with clean lines) that it provides.

    Thank you for the inspiration,

    Elena

  4. Tash says:

Love the design of the whole home, stylish yet casual & liveable, great mix. Can’t wait to take a peek in person!

Can you tell me who contributed the great dining room chairs & pendant lights?

    Thanks Tash

    • apeditor21 says:

      Hi Tash, Thank you!
The dining chairs are by Gubi and the pendants over the table are the Caravaggio light, both from Corporate Culture.

  5. Anne says:

    Hello,
    That buffet is stunning!
Could you tell me where it is from? I have the perfect spot for one!!!
    Thank you.

  6. Kate says:

    Love,love,love the hexagonal tiles!!

Could you pls advise where they are from?

    • apeditor21 says:

Hello there Kate and thank you for your comment. We did not do the bathroom at the display suite but hexagonal wall tiles are available from most tile suppliers. We use Academy Tiles, Di Lorenzo Tiles or Art of Tiles for our hexagons. Good luck!

  7. Barbara says:

Hello there. Can you tell me the source of the turquoise lamp on the buffet? Love the apartment. Thanks.

    • A&P says:

Hello there Barbara and thanks for the comment. The lamp is actually stylist’s own. I’m glad you love it. You could source similar via Etsy, try searching for ‘Rimini Blue vintage lamp’. Good luck!

The design of these rooms are so gorgeous. In a world with plentiful (and sometimes excessive) design ideas, these looks are so refreshing! I’m going to have to keep my eye on you for inspiration as I update my home.

    Thank you!
