Child's bedroom in Woollahra

You might recall our earlier post about our lovely Woollahra project that appeared in House & Garden last year? Well, a year after we finished this project the client contacted Arent&Pyke to ask us to create a beautiful room for her 6 year old daughter. She had just started big school after all, and it was only fair that she had a ‘big girl’ room. The brief was for colour, great storage and a rightful place for all her precious little nick-nacks.

In response we delivered a room full of fresh colour and considered details. A custom bedhead finished in Christopher Farr fabric and complementary cushions from John Robshaw from Ascraft set the tone and the red theme red was extended to the industrial Jielde lamp, the legs on the Jardan bedside stool, and coloured panels on the custom joinery unit. A fanciful green parrot fabric from Christopher Farr was also selected to upholster the Jardan Kelly chair, which sits oh so perfectly under the gorgeous Rachel Castle artwork.

Threads of pink throughout the scheme softened the red making it feminine and playful, but avoiding any sense of fairy floss.

  1. I love this bedroom! especially the mirrored pillows! xx

  2. Love it! What colour paint is that you have used on the walls?

  3. We can appreciate the bold colors, the nod to pink, and the carfully curated pieces in the room. That lamp is fab and the bookshelf cabinet combo a hip alternative to plain old blonde wood. Perfect for a girl to grow into. Nice work.

  4. Beautifully done!!! But could you PLEASE tell me where I can buy the bookcase and drawers from its exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks

  5. I should have known that something that lovely was not mass produced. Just another question is that the Signal or Loft Jielde Lamp? Kind Regards Pamela

  6. Thanks for that!
